Tri Delta continues our commitment to advocacy in the nation’s capital as collegians and alumnae lobbied to support legislation essential to preserving the sorority experience.
In conjunction with the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition (FGRC), Tri Delta offered a valuable opportunity for our members to engage directly in the federal legislative process in Washington, D.C. This year, FGRC’s priorities included preserving freedom of association rights for college students, eradicating hazing on college campuses and improving student housing.
Tri Delta’s on Capitol Hill
The 2024 Capitol Hill Visit Delegation included Libby Lester, Texas, a senior majoring in corporate communications; Haiden Strother, Iowa, a senior double majoring in marketing and English; and Emma Beaird, Baylor, working towards her Master of Science in student affairs administration in higher education at Texas A&M. They were joined by Tri Delta volunteers Stacy Wingerter Duncan, North Dakota, and Maya Polon, Pacific, along with Tri Delta’s Interim CEO Mindy Tucker, Southern Methodist.
Tri Delta members were paired with alumna and student members from a Fraternity and met with Members of Congress and their staff. These meetings have Greek members a chance to share the impact their Greek experience has had on them as well as how the proposed legislation will impact our organization. We are proud of our Fraternity and our members for remaining brave and bold in our shared commitment to drive change and positively impact the Greek community through active participation in the political arena.
