A fresh take on an old tradition – our NEW Resident Lounge!
Published: Aug. 19, 2024
We are excited to share an update on the construction of the new house, focusing on the resident lounge – a space designed for connection and relaxation as well as a standout feature of the home!
The resident lounge is a nod to the social room from the former Theta Omega house – capturing memories while adding modern touches to make it the perfect spot for new experiences. Situated above the formal living room on the second floor, the windows extending from the large bay window flood the room with natural light.
The lounge is both stylish and cozy with a large sectional for lounging complemented by a youthful and bright color palette, inspired by Laura Park Designs.
The Residential Lounge Still Needs a name

And now… for an exciting construction update!
Published: June 12, 2024
Construction crews have been working diligently both inside and outside the home to ensure Theta Omega’s move-in goes smoothly in a few short months. The masons are putting the finishing touches on the brick and limestone details of our Tudor-style home, especially around the front porch and the intricate archways. Custom signage, including a crest-shaped badge, has been ordered to adorn the front of the house as shown in the exterior rendering.
To ensure a seamless chapter house delivery, sub-contractors started on the top floors and have been efficiently working their way down. Our resident bedrooms are coming together quickly and are nearly ready for the brand-new white, modular bedroom furniture. The white finish, preferred by our collegiate members, and the modular capabilities allow each resident to customize their own bedroom space.
As the residential floors near completion, crews will shift their focus to the main floor. We’re anxiously awaiting the beautiful blue paint for the library, the crown molding and wall trim throughout the floor, and a special custom Tri Delta touch to the columns in the dining room. Be sure to follow along in the Facebook group for more updates. Move-in on August 10th can’t get here soon enough!

A Peek Into Our Dining and Chapter Room
Published: May 30, 2024
Exciting developments are underway! Among the updates, the dining room, servery and kitchen stand out as central spaces that are sure to enhance the member experience. Follow along our progress to see how this room will come together.
This multipurpose space is designed to host meals, meetings and events. As the chapter outgrew the old chapter room, there is much excitement around bringing chapter meetings “back home” with a space large enough to accommodate an ever-growing chapter. The space will offer functionality with pocket doors to access the servery, separating the dining and serving spaces. It also includes a built-in projector, screen and speaker system destined to be used for chapter meetings, recruitment parties and chapter events. It’s the subtle “Delta details” we’re weaving throughout the space that will help create a welcoming environment, from the dining room chairs to the mix of round and rectangular dining tables. The servery offers a dedicated space where members can make their plates or grab a quick snack, adding to the convenience of dining onsite. Lastly, the commercial kitchen for an in-house chef and kitchen staff is the perfect space for preparing healthy, balanced and flavorful meals to fuel our member’s busy lives! The dining/chapter room is made possible through the generosity of Joyce Neaderhiser Thomson ‘61.

Chapter Leadership at CLC
Published: May 13, 2024
We had the pleasure of catching up with the new Kansas Executive Committee in Dallas in early April at Collegiate Leadership Conference (CLC), Tri Delta’s premier leadership conference made possible through Tri Delta’s Foundation. In addition to role-specific training workshops, our women participated in community cohorts, absorbed insights from inspirational keynote speakers, celebrated their achievements, danced, sang and left with new knowledge, inspiration, and friendships.
In addition to this fun, the incoming executive committee got some dedicated time with Tri Delta Housing!
From left to right: Kyra Arasmith, Vice President of Operations, Payton Elliott, Vice President of Community Relations, Kimberly Miller, Rose Hulman, Region 7 Collegiate Chapter Coordinator, Ryleigh Reigle, Vice President of Chapter Programming and Development, Anna-Marie Larmon, Vice President of Membership Experience

The executive committee got to walk through the new home and the selected furnishings and finishes, understanding exactly how each room will be set up and how the chapter will use the space both every day and during recruitment. They had the chance to start preparing for a record number of Potential New Members (PNMs) and emphasized their desire for potential members to be drawn not just to the building but to the incredible women inside. They’re excited about using the buzz of the new house to continue to lift the chapter and, most importantly, shine a positive light on the chapter. Plus, Tri Delta will have an advantage — as the only chapter on campus able to host chapter meetings in their own home!
They shared, “We’re ready to showcase our sisterhood once we step through the door of our new house. It’s a chance for us to truly embody what it means to be Tri Delta. It’s reassuring to know we have such a strong support system behind us. Being in this position, with alumnae and peers believing in us, gives us the confidence to achieve great things.” In addition, they said, “Our home will be fully accessible and inclusive and we are excited to reinvent what it means to be a chapter facility at KU.” They left the conversation sharing their gratitude for alumnae. Alumnae have shown them that Tri Delta is a lifelong journey, and it makes them more confident that when they graduate, they will stay connected.
It’s all shaping up to be an exciting time for the chapter as the new officers transition and prepare for our new home!
Step Into The New Den
Published: April 25, 2024
This week, we’re excited to share a sneak peek into another space of our new home — the den!
As we venture further into the house and away from the welcoming entry and formal living room, you’ll discover rooms that grow increasingly relaxed and inviting, perfect spaces to lounge and lose track of time. Sink into our oversized, comfy sectional, just right for movie nights or catching up on the latest episode of The Bachelor. Adorned with pops of blue and blush woven into the pillow and ottoman fabric selections, the den radiates a warm and youthful feel. And, when it’s time to hit the books, grab a chair at the tables and bask in the sunlight streaming through the windows, providing an ideal spot to study or collaborate on group projects. Tucked away behind pocket doors, our study connected off the den offers a quiet retreat for focused work or small group meetings.
Join us as we explore the space, where every corner is thoughtfully designed and decorated to reflect the spirit of Theta Omega and our Tri Delta sisterhood.
From the 1970’s to 2024, Theta Omega’s Alumnae Are Timeless
Published: March 25, 2024
We had the opportunity to catch up with two important women to Theta Omega! Learn about their contributions to Tri Delta and Theta Omega.
Karen Gelvin Kiefer, Kansas Names The House Director Suite in Honor of The Initiation Class of 1978
Karen Kiefer, a 1981 graduate, embarked on a fulfilling journey after earning her accounting degree. Her career led her through prestigious accounting firms in Kansas City before retirement. Now residing in Florida with her husband, Karen cherishes family time, especially visits to England to see her grandchildren. An avid traveler, she loves globetrotting. She is planning three big annual trips with an upcoming expedition to Antarctica. Karen’s zest for life extends to her active involvement in her golf community, love for bridge and passion for philanthropy.
Her commitment to philanthropy began early, founding an educational foundation in the 1990s and creating a financial wisdom program for graduating seniors, teaching them how to save money at a young age. Karen’s dedication to giving back aligns with her recent support for the Theta Omega campaign – a chance to revitalize the sorority house with a new build instead of more renovations. “I was happy to help, knowing the women would have a beautiful and safe house for years to come”. Reflecting on her own college experiences, she sees Tri Delta as a vital part of her journey, fostering friendships that endure to this day. For Karen, donating to Tri Delta isn’t just about giving; it’s a way to enrich the lives of young women on campus. Her advice is simple: “Donate. You’ll create a positive impact and feel fulfilled. It’s about enhancing the experience for today’s college students.” Karen’s commitment to Tri Delta echoes her belief in the transformative power of philanthropy, ensuring that future generations find the same supportive community and opportunities she treasured during her time at KU.
Meet Patricia Domann, Kansas, The New House Director at Theta Omega
As a new member back in 1973, Pat immediately fell in love with Tri Delta. Among her many roles, she served as treasurer on the House Corporation board for 25 years and treasurer of the Theta Omega Educational Foundation for 30 years.
Retiring from teaching last year, Pat accepted the House Director position at Tri Delta at Kansas State University, Theta Iota. “From my experiences with House Corporation, I knew I would enjoy taking care of the house itself, but what surprised me is how much I enjoy the women of Theta Iota. There is just a constant positive energy that you pulls you in. From early morning breakfast, the constant opening and closing of the doors with women heading to campus, the gym, or Chick-fil-A, attending K-State sports, watching the Bachelor, to all the events that fill their calendar. I just love being a part of their days and nights!”
“No one! I repeat NO ONE was more excited than me when it was announced that Theta Omega was building. Now I am going to be the new Theta Omega House Director and I am going to live in this brand-new house that I have dreamed about for Tri Delta for so long! I am so excited. What will I love the most about the House Director apartment? Without a doubt…the washer and dryer!! When friends and alumnae tour the house, it will be the first thing I show them. Karen Gelvin knows what a gift she is giving me. Thanks to Karen this apartment will be like living in the Ritz Hotel.”

Donor Spotlight: Noreen Checchi Dupriest, Kansas
Published: March 8, 2024
We had a chance to chat with Noreen Checchi Dupriest, Kansas, about what Tri Delta means to her and why she contributed to the Campaign for Theta Omega. We are so proud to call Noreen “sister” and truly thank you for her dedication and support!
Currently serving as the community relations advisor for Theta Omega Chapter, Noreen seamlessly balances her role with running a psychotherapy practice. Beyond her professional pursuits, she devotes her time to her husband, Darren, and four sons, Reagan, Preston, Beckett and Fletcher. Noreen has a passion for sculpting. Her commissioned pieces often center around the themes of family and faith and have been showcased in public schools, community college campuses and charity auctions.
From Community College to KU
Noreen’s journey with Tri Delta began when she joined as a junior, having attended community college for two years prior to the University of Kansas. Tri Delta became her chosen family, offering support when her relationship with her biological family was lacking. Realizing the importance of this connection, she joined the Theta Omega Educational Foundation in 2002. After 15 years on the board, she established a scholarship for juniors needing financial assistance, understanding firsthand the impact of such support.
For Noreen, Tri Delta goes beyond the stereotypes portrayed in movies like “Legally Blonde.” “It’s about diversity, conflict resolution, loyalty, and selflessness.” Her commitment is evident and shown in little ways—like her license plate adorned with Tri Delta symbols and a pine tree in every home she owns!
In her advisor role, Noreen values autonomy for the five officers she mentors. She believes in affirming and encouraging them, fostering a positive environment. She emphasizes the importance of respect and guidance over control and demands, encouraging understanding and encouragement rather than condemnation or shame.
Capital Campaign and Giving Back
When asked why she chose to donate to the housing campaign, Noreen says, “I felt nostalgic. Participating in the capital campaign allowed me to maintain a connection with Tri Delta. It was natural to want to give back and create a home and not just a house. Between the walls is really made up of kindness love, selflessness and an ideal of family.”
Noreen encourages others to reflect on what Tri Delta has done for them and consider giving back. She believes in building a legacy for future generations of Tri Deltas!
Theta Omega’s Take a Hard Hat Tour

Everyone had a blast donning their hard hats as more than 130 Theta Omega collegiate members took their first tour inside our soon to be new home on Oxford Road! It was a great opportunity to walk the house and visualize what it will feel like to move in this fall!! The members left with revived energy and excitement as they hit the mid-point of the spring semester. Stay tuned for more incoming interior progress photos!
Construction Updates
We’ve already shared a sneak peek into the progress of a few of the first-floor spaces, so let’s check out the rest of the first floor, including the library, dining/chapter room and servery. The library windows have recently been installed and we are obsessed with the beautiful new arched windows. The servery, equipped with hot and cold serving lines and beverage stations, is a great addition, allowing for a seamless flow during mealtime encouraging connection and conversation. Tucked behind pocket doors, the servery will be easy to access during mealtimes and easy to conceal during recruitment and events. The multi-purpose dining/chapter room is a space where our Theta Omega sister’s meet and eat together. The largest room in the house comes equipped with a projector, screen and sound for chapter meetings, recruitment and events!

Under Construction: A Peek of the Living Room
Published: February 15, 2024
Our new house is certainly coming together! The living room, which is poised to be one of the most formal rooms located in the “heart” of the house, is shaping up with great attention to detail and with a nod to the original home’s charm. We are excited to share the progress of construction and potential interior design choices for this living space.
Creating the perfect living room is a team effort. A behind-the-scenes meeting gives us a peek into the discussions about furniture choices, patterns and fabrics for the living room. It’s a balancing act to ensure the space is both practical, beautiful and timeless!
The marque fireplace, in view as you enter through the front door, takes the spotlight, being both a stylish centerpiece and a cozy addition to the most formal room in the house. With an operational fireplace, we trust we’ll find some of our Theta Omega sisters cozied up by it on a cool winter day. The living room also features a bay window, a nod to the bay window that existed in the living room of the original house, adding character and letting in plenty of natural light. Tucked inside the bay window will be Theta Omega’s cherished piano, adding a touch of tradition and history to the room. With nearly 12’ ceilings, crown molding and wall paneling throughout, the living room will feel spacious, inviting and sophisticated.

Donor Spotlight featuring Jean Pinne Anderson
Her “WHY” for giving back to Theta Omega
Published: January 31, 2024
We are thrilled to feature Jean Pinne Anderson, ‘93, a cherished alumna whose journey with Tri Delta began at the Theta Omega Chapter. Join us in celebrating Jean’s support and dedication to Tri Delta’s legacy.
Jean found her place at Tri Delta right from the start of recruitment. The atmosphere at Theta Omega was warm and welcoming, making it easy to connect. Fond memories reside in casual hangouts at the top of the staircase, where episodes of “Friends” and “Days of Our Lives” were shared among sisters. Yet, it was the sophomore “walk out” to New Orleans that became one of her favorite memories. Recalling the trip, “It was freedom, bonding, karaoke, laughs, beignets, hurricanes, and sisterhood.”
Theta Omega became a home away from home for Jean, where she made lifelong friends, enjoyed a happy college social life, and learned about compromising with those around her. “These positive experiences shaped me into a young adult who was prepared for the future.”
After graduation, Jean moved to Chicago and became involved with the Loop Group alumnae in the downtown area. When she and her husband moved back to Lawrence, Jean served as Theta Omega’s chapter advisor for a few years. Now, she is a member of the Lawrence alumnae group and a proud supporter of Our Home, Our Future – The Campaign for Theta Omega.
“I came to KU without friends, from a small town, and Theta Omega helped me navigate college life,” she shared. “It gave me friends, structure, and support. I want every young woman that comes to KU to have this same opportunity.”
Jean encourages her sisters to get involved and join her in making a gift. “The Tri Lodge, as we called it, doesn’t have the updated aesthetic and all the amenities that young women need these days. In order to stay competitive, an overhaul is needed,” she said.
“We need many big and little donations to reach the $1 million campaign goal. I hope that everyone who lived at 1630 Oxford Road realizes that this chapter helped form who they are today, and I hope they are proud of who they’ve become.”
In her career, Jean worked in banking, HR, and retail sales before starting a family. She has loved being a homemaker. The skills she gained in Tri Delta, such as working toward compromise, communicating, and getting along with others, have been used in her career and everyday life. “Other concepts like belonging, a sense of family, and the importance of social engagement became meaningful to me in college. I also realized becoming Greek had a lot to do with my ideal college experience, and I hoped my boys would have the opportunity to do the same.”
Jean and her husband met at KU in 1992. They are very proud of their sons: Jack, who graduated from KU in 2023, and Josh, a sophomore at KU. “The experience of reliving your KU college days through your kids is incredible!”
In her free time, Jean enjoys snow skiing, playing pickleball, and traveling. You can connect with her at jeaneanderson@gmail.com to learn more about why she supports Theta Omega.
You can make a difference, just like Jean!
By supporting this project, you’re not just contributing to a physical structure; you’re investing in the empowerment and growth of young women, fostering leadership, and building a legacy that extends far beyond the walls of our new home. Your donation helps create a nurturing space where bonds are forged, lifelong friendships are made, and women can thrive, empowering them to shine brighter in all aspects of their lives. To date, we have raised $602,136 from 80 generous donors as we look to reach our $1 million goal.
To make a gift to the campaign, please click here. Gifts may be fulfilled over a five-year period to help you maximize your commitment. All gifts supporting the Theta Omega building campaign are tax deductible through Tri Delta’s Foundation. Questions about the campaign should be emailed to Tri Delta’s Foundation at foundation@trideltaeo.org.
Our Progress
An Update from Theta Omega
Published: January 12, 2024
It’s time to reflect on the incredible accomplishments and milestones achieved by the Theta Omega chapter. The dedication, passion, and spirit of its members have propelled them to new heights, showcasing the true essence of sisterhood and commitment to excellence.
Achievements worth celebrating
This semester, the chapter made significant strides in growth, thanks to the hard work of our CDC, recruitment team, and chapter leadership. Their priority percentage during the preference round of Fall Formal Recruitment increased by a remarkable 41%, a testament to our commitment to fostering a strong sisterhood and upholding our values.
For the first time since 2019, our chapter proudly achieved a campus total of 249 members through the efforts of year-round recruitment. This milestone speaks volumes about our collective efforts in welcoming and empowering new members into our Tri Delta family.
Theta Omega participated in KU’s Homecoming for the first time in over three years. We proudly secured third place in the homecoming festivities, showcasing unity, creativity, and passion for representing our sorority on campus.
Their dedication to philanthropy shone brightly as we qualified for Rock Chalk Revue (RCR), a prestigious musical competition on campus, a feat not achieved in over 7 years. The dedicated team of RCR Directors will tirelessly choreograph and produce the show titled “Bringin’ Back Boogie.” Additionally, during their “20K in a Day” event for St. Jude, led by the Director of Philanthropy (who was also named Director of Philanthropy of the Year 2023), we successfully raised an astounding $47,000 in just 24 hours. What a positive impact!
With a forward-looking approach, and a motivated operations team, the Governing Documents Committee updated the chapter Bylaws that had remained untouched for years, ensuring that the chapter’s structure aligns with current goals and values. Additionally, two esteemed members were elected to the Panhellenic Association (PHA) executive board, representing Tri Delta with distinction.
A BIG thank you
“As we reflect on the remarkable achievements of this semester, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our exceptional backbone – the newly incorporated advisor team. This distinguished team comprises our Alumni Advisor, Bronwyn Troxel (MC 13), Membership Experience Advisor, Bridget Hardgree White (MC 92), Community Relations Advisor, Noreen Checchi Dupriest (MC 92), and Operations Advisor, Sue Cooper Forbes (MC 93). Their unwavering support and guidance have been integral to our accomplishments, propelling us forward as a chapter”.
Future Goals in Focus
We aim to increase the chapter GPA average to a commendable 3.5 and strive to create an environment that nurtures scholastic success while maintaining a strong sisterhood.
We aspire to continue this momentum by remaining at or above total. This goal speaks to the commitment to welcoming new members while valuing the quality and integrity of our sisterhood. Strengthening the involvement of Tri Delta sisters across campus is a key objective as well as fostering increased participation in campus events, clubs, and organizations, showcasing the leadership and spirit of the members beyond our chapter walls.
These goals are a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement and our dedication to upholding the values of Tri Delta. Achieving these objectives will not only propel our chapter but will also reinforce our collective impact within the broader university community.
Delta Love,
Theta Omega Chapter, Delta Delta Delta
Hats off to Theta Omega:
Our Hard Hat Tour Revelations!
Published: December 5, 2023
Or should we say, hats on? The hard hat tour experience was exhilarating, and our very first Theta Omega’s who had a chance to step into the future with us as we explored our new home. We asked these sisters to share their experiences during their tour last month.
Seville Croker, collegiate chapter president, said: “Seeing the progress on the house got me excited! I can’t wait to witness the transformation after winter break. “She shared her tour highlights: “The house’s suitability for recruitment amazed me, especially the living rooms for Open House conversations and the spacious dining room. And it’s so accessible now, a fully inclusive chapter facility!” Seville marveled at the utilization of space: “The house feels much bigger and more functional. It’s designed to accommodate our growing chapter perfectly.” Summing up, Seville saw the new house as monumental for their chapter: “Moving in is a big leap for us. With 247 members, having a larger house designed for our current needs is crucial.” She highlighted the house’s modern amenities: “This new home perfectly aligns with today’s sorority expectations, providing double and triple bedrooms, private bathrooms, and Zen zones.”
Meredith Talbott, vice president of chapter development and programming, expressed her excitement: “The spaciousness of the house is a game-changer for us. It’s a drastic yet necessary change from our old house, perfectly fitting our chapter’s future needs.” She was also taken aback by the size and envisioned the final result: “The size of everything, especially those huge windows, was astonishing. Visualizing the finished product while seeing the progress was incredible.” Meredith emphasized the significance of the new house for their chapter: “This new house holds enormous potential, offering us space and opportunities for growth. Preserving parts of the old house in the new one resonates deeply with members like myself.”
Bridget White, member experience advisor, shared her anticipation and enthusiasm: “I was most excited to see a traditional home captured in the new house, embracing an inviting floor plan with ample space for our members to live, meet, study, relax, and dine. We’re thrilled about the possibilities of the 3rd floor KU themed game room!” As she continued, she expressed her surprise: “The size and footprint of the new house took me aback. It’s towering, and you won’t miss our new beautiful Tri Delta house by a mile!” Reflecting on the significance of the new home for the chapter, Bridget added, “This beautiful home will be a treasured living and gathering place for active and alumnae members, bridging our past and building a bright future!”
Sue Forbes, operations advisor, was captivated by the floor plan’s flow: “The first-floor layout, especially the smaller, cozier spaces and the dining/chapter room, really impressed me. The natural light flooding through the large windows creates such a warm vibe. Plus, the house’s location on the lot will definitely make a statement!” Her surprise stemmed from the sheer size and purposeful design: “The house is expansive! The specific spaces designed for our women’s needs, like the craft room, Zen zones, and the 3rd floor KU themed game room, amazed me. And the bedroom/bathroom layout is fantastic!” Sue believed the new home symbolizes a turning point for the chapter: “There’s tremendous excitement surrounding this new chapter home. I foresee significant changes in recruitment, retention, and alumni involvement!”
The hard hat tour provided an exciting glimpse into our future home. As we anticipate the Fall of 2024, we’re eager to thrive and flourish in this spacious, thoughtfully designed house that symbolizes the next chapter for Theta Omega!
From Framing to Finishes
Published: December 5, 2023
It’s all about creating a space that’s warm, welcoming, and totally Theta Omega’s. With construction plans behind us and fully underway, focus is quickly shifting to all things interior design! Here’s where the magic happens! Over the next few months, we’ll be diving into swatches, colors, and patterns, furniture shapes and pieces—everything that’ll bring life to our space.
Through the beams and framework lies the blueprint of our foyer —the threshold that will soon welcome friends, family and sisters into our home. As the structure rises, so does our excitement to see this space transform. As you approach the front door, you’ll hit the covered porch, to be adorned with comfortable patio furniture to lounge in during the seasonably comfortable days and evenings.
Our foyer, the very first impression of our home, will welcome you from your first step inside. Imagine a light, bright, and inviting space.
Stay tuned for more glimpses of our journey from the ground up as we build a house and create a home!
Jayhawks Pride!
Published: November 9, 2023
Hey there, KU Jayhawks! Homecoming week was undoubtedly a highlight not just for us, but for the entire KU community. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of coming back home, reuniting with old friends, and celebrating the traditions that make KU so special from the tailgates to the reunions. The excitement was so real, and the memories were unforgettable.
Our Theta Omega sisters had a great time at the Homecoming game! They also participated in Jayhawk Jingles—an annual KU tradition where groups create and perform skits that incorporate the Homecoming theme and KU. These skits were created and performed for a live audience on October 26th. We’re thrilled to share that Theta Omega placed 3rd overall!
As we reflect on the week, it’s incredible to think about how quickly a year has passed. Just last year, over homecoming weekend, we unveiled our plans for a brand-new Theta Omega home and the enthusiasm was contagious. Since that announcement, we’ve been hard at work, and the construction of our dream house is in full swing!
Exciting Times for Theta Omega
This is a thrilling time for our Theta Omega sisterhood, filled with promise and potential. It’s a time when we’re laying the foundations for the future and securing the legacy for generations of Theta Omega sisters to come. You play a pivotal role in making this dream a reality. We’re on a mission to raise over $1 million for our new chapter home through the ‘Our Home, Our Future—The Campaign for Theta Omega.’ Your contribution supports future sisters and helps create a lasting legacy, a home where countless memories will be made, friendships formed, and dreams realized.
As we look to the future, remember that our home is a symbol of the love and dedication from the entire Theta Omega family.
Here’s to many more homecomings filled with love, laughter, and pride!
Donor Spotlight Honors Janine Gracy, Kansas
Published: October 26, 2023
We had the pleasure of getting to know Janine and express our appreciation for her incredible support of the new Kansas chapter home. Janine, an avid Chiefs fan, radiates love for the University of Kansas and Tri Delta. Living with her husband in Lawrence, she recently drove past the construction site, and couldn’t help but share her excitement as she saw progress unfolding.
Janine currently serves as the Executive Director at Trinity In-Home Care, a licensed non-profit that provides non-medical in-home and community support to elderly and disabled individuals in Douglas County, Kansas. Her work is more than just a job; it’s a passionate commitment to making a difference. In her own words, “There’s never been a day when I don’t feel like I am helping people.”
Drawing on her past experience as a Tri Delta volunteer, Janine acknowledged that the house had reached its renovation limits. Janine places a high value on creating a safe, comfortable and secure living environment. This drives her deep commitment to support Tri Delta and the Kansas housing campaign. Janine is particularly excited about the reconfigured room designs and the areas that foster togetherness while still providing privacy.
Janine told us about her DDD B&B experience this summer. “This was such an amazing experience to stay in our beloved house one last time! We all picked up at DDD B&B excited to see each other again. We sat in a circle on the deck and caught each other up on the last 40 years.” Janine recognized that Tri Delta has always been there for her – wherever she was in the world as she moved across various cities with her husband.
Janine’s advice for those considering supporting the new Tri Delta home, “I tell people to think back on the lessons learned in that house and where you would be today if it wasn’t for Tri Delta. If you could put a value on that – that’s what you should give.”
You can make a difference, too!
The new Tri Delta house goes beyond brick and mortar. It’s about providing a safe, comfortable and competitive home where future generations of Tri Delta members can experience their own growth and development. It’s about preserving the cherished Theta Omega traditions, values, and sisterhood that have shaped countless lives.
To date, we have raised $591,365 from 50 generous donors
towards our $1 million goal.
You can help make this vision a reality and ensure Theta Omega’s legacy. Because of the magnitude of the project, all alumnae are encouraged to consider a meaningful gift to the campaign. With support from donors, Tri Delta will continue to provide a premier living environment that supports, nurtures and develops our members to live, learn and lead for a lifetime.

The house has been meticulously designed to prioritize comfort, inviting members to unwind and truly relax. The bedrooms are no exception to this commitment, providing the ideal sanctuary for a college student’s busy life. On two resident floors, each bedroom is thoughtfully designed to create a tranquil atmosphere, encouraging down time, focused study and a peaceful night’s sleep.
Bedrooms come fully furnished and residents can choose from single, double or triple bedroom options. The first of its kind at a Tri Delta home, private pod-style bathrooms will offer the added benefit of personal space and privacy. The private bathrooms are paired with the flexibility of shared space for getting ready with your sisters for class or events!
Campaign for Theta Omega
Tri Delta announced a $1 Million capital campaign for the new house. It will take support from every sister to get us across the finish line. Dana Hale Nelson, Kansas Campaign Chairman says “This campaign is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help young women in the same situation we were once in: looking for a place where they can feel at home.” As of August 16, 2023, $577,846 has been raised by 43 contributors against our campaign goal of $1 Million. Thank you to our early donors!
About Dana Hale Nelson:
Dana Hale Nelson ’73 chairs the Our Home, Our Future – The Campaign for Theta Omega. She is excited to share the new chapter house design with alumnae and is dedicated to establishing a lasting legacy at Theta Omega. Her main focus is supporting future sisters.
Dana discovered Tri Delta at KU, seeking a balanced sisterhood with diverse talents. It was the perfect fit, offering genuine individuals who prioritized academics, relationships, and philanthropy. Tri Delta not only provided fun experiences but also instilled in Dana the courage to explore new horizons, both in her field of study and her volunteer and philanthropic pursuits.
Today, Dana and her husband live in Mission Hills, Kansas, where they sustainably grow and market ancient grains from Europe and Africa. Dana’s passion for new and emerging areas mirrors her enthusiasm for the campaign, seeing it as a fantastic opportunity for Theta Omega.
When it comes to giving, Dana encourages fellow alumnae not to focus on the size of their donations. Every contribution matters and supports the chapter house project, which Dana believes will be a game-changer for the sorority on campus.
As the campaign unfolds, Dana looks forward to sharing the chapter house plans with as many Tri Delta women as possible, believing that they will take pride in the support from alumnae and Tri Delta’s Foundation, and the positive impact this new home will have on the young ladies of Theta Omega. Dana’s active life also includes spending time with her family, golfing, needlework, and cooking.

Building Bonds: Friendship & Foundation

As the foundation for the new house takes shape, the chapter was also laying the groundwork for their future through formal recruitment. Despite the chapter home being under construction, this resilient and adaptable chapter achieved recruitment success.
A Fantastic Recruitment & Strong Chapter
Kansas welcomed 91 new members through formal recruitment, the largest new member class among all sororities at KU this year! This increase is a reflection of the chapters improved recruitment performance and an increase in interest for sorority life at KU. Over 280 more potential new members (PNM’s) participated in recruitment this year compared to 2022. Following recruitment, the chapter stands strong with 240 members and is actively participating in continuous open bidding to offer the lifetime membership of Tri Delta to as many students as possible at KU.
“Being a part of the leadership team during such a transformative recruitment will be one of the most influential experiences I take away from my college years. I got to see a side of my chapter that I had not yet witnessed and knowing I played a vital role in adding this amount of growth and value to Theta Omega fills me with so much excitement for where our chapter will be within a year as well as within ten years from now.”

From Farewell to Future

We are thrilled to present the latest progress report on the Theta Omega house tear down and new build project! As you know, we recently bid farewell to the old house, and exciting changes are already underway as the site has been cleared to make way for our brand-new chapter home.
Before the house was torn down, it found one last profound way to give back to the community in Lawrence. The City of Lawrence Fire Department conducted essential training within our soon-to-be-demolished house, helping to ensure the safety of our Kansas neighbors. As we bid farewell to cherished memories, we’re comforted by the knowledge that this action serves the greater good and paves the way for a new chapter in our home’s history. Watch the VIDEO of the training!
The demo on the house started bright and early on July 14, and while watching the house come down stirred up a lot of memories and emotion, we’re also excited to share photos of the moment. Thanks to Penelope Kozeny, Kansas, Janine Gracy, Kansas, and Jan Kipp McElwain, Kansas for sharing these photos!
Now, on to the construction progress! The old house, filled with cherished memories, has made way for a bright new future in our chapter’s history. The construction team wasted no time in clearing the lot for our future home, and we’re already imagining the first glimpses of the design taking shape.
Hotel Tri Delta
Check-in at Hotel Tri Delta— the temporary Theta Omega home—has begun! This property is conveniently located near campus and is accommodating more than 70 of our members. Construction hasn’t stopped Tri Deltas from making memories together, in a shared space. Check out the fun video they put together to show off Hotel Tri Delta!
Thank you for your continuous support! Stay tuned for more exciting news on our journey to a new and improved Tri Delta home! We can’t wait to share more updates as the construction progresses.

Farewell to the Theta Omega House: Memories, Connections and Looking Forward
Published: July 31, 2023
The Tri Delta house at the University of Kansas holds a special place in the hearts of our Theta Omega sisters. This beautiful home at 1630 Oxford Road was built in 1951 and has been a haven for creating lifelong memories and fostering deep connections for over seven decades. It’s been so much fun “digging up” (no pun intended) its history!
Saying Goodbye
Our current Theta Omega collegians spent their last days in the chapter house in May. As a tribute to the home, the chapter took to their Instagram and what followed were beautiful comments expressing their thoughts and gratitude, capturing the impact a house can make in young members’ lives:
“1630 will forever be a very special place for me and my 2 older sisters who lived there before me. It’s a Hardgree family tradition. I also made my lifelong best friends there and the best memories that have lasted a lifetime. You are a pearl and will never be forgotten!” – Bridget
“1630 you were truly magical in all the best ways. I will always hold the memories made in this house close to my heart. So excited to see the new house and hear about the new friendships being forged and memories being made there. Grateful to the Theta Omega chapter, long live the Tri Lodge!!” – Heidi
Not long after the collegiate members moved out, alumnae were welcomed for a DDD B&B event. This event served as a proper farewell, providing former residents with the opportunity to relive their past, strengthen their bonds and celebrate the rich history of their beloved home before it was torn down. DDD B&B was attended by 28 guests, with an additional 5 joining for brunch. It was truly heartwarming to witness alumnae traveling from various states, including Texas, Tennessee and Illinois. The event was a resounding success with everyone making future plans to get together again, including the dedication ceremony for the new house once it is completed.
Meredith Fleming Bergquist, Texas/Arlington, our on-site staff, witnessed firsthand the warmth and camaraderie as sisters from different generations swapped stories about their time in the house. Some were even fortunate enough to stay in the very rooms they occupied during their college years, reminiscing about how they arranged their spaces and even remembering what was on their walls! These trips down memory lane allowed the women to reconnect on a deep level, sharing experiences and catching up on the events of the past few decades. “What really stood out to me were plans for future reunions already being made!” Meredith shared.
As the DDD B&B event drew to a close, saying goodbye to the old house was bittersweet. These new memories created within the old house left a permanent mark, fostering a strong sense of connection and renewed excitement for Theta Omega and their future!
While the physical home may change, the spirit of the chapter house will forever live on in the hearts of its past residents.
The New House and Vision
Published: July 6, 2023
For over 75 years, the Theta Omega home has proudly stood at 1630 Oxford Road, serving as a haven for generations of Tri Delta sisters. However, as our chapter has grown and evolved, we have recognized the need for a new home that can truly accommodate our needs and support our future. With great excitement, Tri Delta Housing has decided to embark on a monumental journey—demolishing the existing house and constructing a state-of-the-art home that will meet our every expectation. Construction is set to begin this summer, 2023, and the new home will open its doors to residents for the fall 2024 semester.
A Glimpse of What’s to Come
Check out the floor plans here.
Step Into Your Future Home
The new Theta Omega home will offer ample educational, social, meeting and residential space. With a multifunctional dining/chapter room and a commercial kitchen, members will enjoy a robust dining plan. Zen areas, conference room space, residential lounge spaces and TV rooms, private/pod-style bathrooms and a live-in house director suite will round out the state-of-the-art home we can’t wait to call our own. Spanning approximately 23,000 square feet this house has been thoughtfully designed to be fully accessible and accommodate 71 residents. It will be a place where friendships flourish, ideas are born, and memories are made—a home that captures the essence of Theta Omega.
We can’t wait to share this experience with all of you.
