Founded as a society that would be kind alike to all, Tri Deltas are passionate about serving others. Nowhere is this more evident than in our commitment to philanthropy. As Tri Deltas, we remain dedicated to three aspects of philanthropy: sisters helping sisters through Tri Delta’s Foundation, our commitment to changing the way the world treats and defeats childhood cancer through our work with local and regional children’s hospitals and pediatric cancer initiatives and through our national partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Assisting Our Members in Every Possible Way
Tri Delta was founded as a society that would be “kind alike to all,” and through the work of Tri Delta’s Foundation, we are keeping our Founders’ vision alive. The Foundation helps fulfill Tri Delta’s Purpose by assisting our members in every possible way. Learn more about all the ways we live out sisters helping sisters.
St. Jude Official Partner of Kindness
At Tri Delta, our partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital goes beyond driving change; it propels our shared mission forward. Together, we are unwavering in our dedication to making a difference in the lives of children facing cancer.
Tri Delta’s Impact
Our value of self-sacrifice has inspired us to raise an astounding $100 million since 1999, making us true trailblazers in the realm of philanthropy. And we have now set our sights on hitting a total of $185 million by the year 2038—150 years after our founding. In recognition of our newest commitment, Tri Delta Place will continue to welcome St. Jude patient families as a short-term home away from home on the St. Jude campus. And St. Jude has named Tri Delta their Official Partner of Kindness! What a special and meaningful honor—perfect for an organization founded on being “kind alike to all.” Tri Delta is proud to rank among the top 10 corporate partners of St Jude and be the top fundraising non-profit organization!
Our members are the driving force behind our fundraising success. Each year, our dedicated collegiate and alumnae chapters raise over $5.5 million through campus events, our renowned DHOP (Delta House of Pancakes) signature event and the heartfelt Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign. Members also participate in St. Jude’s Walk/Run and Memphis Marathon by forming teams, raising money and volunteering at these events.
When you donate to Tri Delta’s fundraising efforts for St. Jude, you’re making a direct impact. Your support ensures that no St. Jude patient or their family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. Together, we alleviate the burdens of these families, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—healing their children.
Treating and Defeating Childhood Cancer
Tri Delta’s commitment to childhood cancer dates back to 1947, when 13 alumnae chapters in Southern California organized a “Sleighbell Luncheon” to help fund research at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. At the 1974 Convention, recognizing our members’ dedication and generosity, Tri Delta adopted childhood cancer as our philanthropic focus.
Tri Delta is changing the way the world treats and defeats childhood cancer through our powerful philanthropic work.
Sleighbell’s success inspired similar events across the country. Today, Tri Delta collegiate and alumnae chapters support local and regional children’s hospitals and pediatric cancer initiatives across North America, providing unprecedented financial assistance and awareness.
